"Sigmoidoscopy examination"

About: Blackpool Victoria Hospital / Gastroenterology

(as the patient),

I attended the Gastroenterology Unit for a Sigmoidoscopy examination with great trepidation. I was admitted on time, everything was explained to me in a private room by an experienced and caring nurse and within half an hour I was taken to the treatment room. In the treatment room I was set at ease by the doctor that performed the procedure and the two nurses that helped with calming my nerves, encouraging me, the gas and air and maintained my dignity during the procedure. Great work by all the staff.

The only improvement I would make is I was asked to complete a questionnaire on my medical history when I first arrived in reception, I feel that this would be better sent out with the appointment letter so that it could be better completed and brought to the appointment on the day.

Thank for leaving this feedback about our gastroenterology department. Coming in for a personal examination like this is not easy and I am pleased that all our staff put you at ease before and during the procedure. I hope your positive feedback encourages other individuals to get screened and be reassured ahead of their procedure.

I will of course share this feedback with staff within the department, I know they will be delighted to read this. With regard to the questionnaire I will find out why it can not be posted before the procedure and feedback.

I wish you all the best for the future,

Eleanor
