"Poor Practice/Communication and lack of…"

About: Stanley

Me and my son have been registered with this surgery for over 3 years and in that time I have not had a great experience. Firstly it is very difficult to get an appointment and when you do sometimes it is cancelled or they have got the times wrong. Today my son had an appointment booked for 10.00am I checked in early with the receptionist and after waiting past the appointment time I was told it was for 11.10 even though I have proof when I made this the previous week that it was at 10 to see a wound nurse. I was then told the nurse would see him there and then and was then waiting another 10 15 minutes to be told he would need to make another appointment as they had made a mistake. I took time out of work for this and my son was not able to be seen. I have had similar experiences of not getting appointment making one and then told it would need to be cancelled. On 3 occasions I have been given the wrong advise and medication. First I was given a high dosage of sertraline which gave me severe diarrhoea. I was then changed to another medication and was on this for a month to then be told it needed to be changed again. The medication I am now on is not working and I made a further appointment but have to wait two weeks. My son was given a prescription which cost £18 but there are only less than a weeks supply of dressings which I have now had to request more. The advise initially given was not to cover the wound. After been in a lot of pain and the wound was leaking my son went to the walk in centre and was told that the cream that the doctor had prescribed was not suitable and they had not used this in over 30 years. The wound was cleaned covered and he was advised this should have happened when he first saw his doctor. I have now lost all faith in the G.P practice and will have to look at finding another surgery who can meet our needs and provide correct advise and appointments.

Thank you for your comments. I am disappointed if our services have fallen short on these occasions. We strive to provide a service accessible to all our patients. I am particularly interested to discuss the matters you have raised about your medication and would ask you to contact the practice directly and ask to speak to the Practice Manager, Pat Foster. Thank you.
