"Absolutely Outstanding"

I recently had a hysterectomy operation at Emersons Green Treatment Centre and would like to praise all of the staff who looked after me so incredibly well. I felt thoroughly looked after: from my initial consultation to having surgery and the aftercare I received while in hospital. Being a smaller set up, it didn’t exactly feel like I was going into hospital, therefore the whole experience was far less daunting and more personal.

Firstly, when I went along for my initial appointment, the consultant (who was new to the hospital) was truly excellent. He explained the extent of my problem and provided a range of choices. He answered all of my questions in depth, allowing me to feel fully informed to make a decision. I opted for surgery and received my date very quickly.

Throughout my stay, the professionalism and warmth of all staff was very apparent and welcome. At Emersons Green Treatment Centre, there is a definite focus on the patient and their needs, which enabled me to feel relaxed and well cared for.

The nurse who did my pre-surgery checks on the day was brilliant - very calm and obviously experienced in admitting people for surgery. The surgeon and anaesthetist and anaesthetic nurse filled me with confidence in their ability, discussing the operation beforehand and answering all of my questions. I entered the operating theatre feeling I was in very good hands.

When I came round after surgery, the team in the recovery area were brilliant too. It all seemed to work so seamlessly and within a relatively short amount of time I was back in my room. By mid afternoon, I had a visit from the surgeon who performed the operation, informing me how the operation had gone and giving me the opportunity to ask any questions. He returned to see me the next day to check on progress and talk through any more questions I had. A few hours after surgery, I also had a visit from the anaesthetist to check I was ok.

I stayed overnight and was discharged late afternoon the following day. Every member of staff I met was truly excellent. The nursing staff were experienced and reassuring, I felt confident I was receiving the best possible care. All health care professionals were wonderful and it felt like nothing was too much to ask.

My room was clean and very comfortable. The food was amazing! There was an excellent choice of options, it looked appealing, arrived at my bedside hot and tasted great!

This was an exceptional experience. The care I received from everyone at Emersons Green Treatment Centre provided me with the best experience I could possibly have asked for. I thoroughly recommend this treatment centre and feel I have received outstanding care, which has set me on the best course towards a good and full recovery. Thank you to all who work so diligently there. You are a credit to the NHS. You are a dedicated group of people and clearly committed to what you do. Keep up the amazing work that you do - I cannot praise you enough.
