"Appointments"

About: Malthouse Surgery

It's very difficult to get an appointment, I believe it';s easier to get an appointment to see the Pope. In lieu of an appointment they arrange a telephone call from a Doctor which is most unsatisfactory. You're placed as inconsequential where this may not be the case.

It's sad to see the deterioration in service of a once competently run surgery.

Thank you for your feedback. As outlined in other responses, the way healthcare is delivered continually changes to meet todays requirements and we offer many different appointment types with a range of clinicians to meet the patients needs. The receptionists are not clinically qualified and they are not doing any clinical assessment, however, they are there to work with the patient to ensure they access the right person with the right type of appointment. A telephone consultation is not in lieu of an appointment, it is just one of the different appointment types we offer over 7 days a week. With regards appointment waiting times this can vary depending on the clinician you need or want to see and there are busy times that can mean the wait for a routine appointment is longer than we would want, however, if it is an urgent issue you will be dealt with on the day using our same day duty doctor triage system. If I look today at when the next appointments are available I can see you could book a routine appointment with a GP for this Sunday (today is Friday), and a telephone or e mail consultation for Monday.
