"I got sent away"

About: Westmorland General Hospital

On the 26th September I turned up for my operation that was due to last around 2hours aprox at 2.50. When I first got there the receptionist sent me to the wrong place then I got sent back to reception. I was told oh sorry I hadn’t read your letter properly and told to sit and wait. I’d not eaten or drank all day as only water with meds’ was allowed. I got called into consultants room and asked a few questions and prodded me a little. He asked if I had results of my scan, to which I replied why would I have them? He said they can’t do operations without them and said he was gonna send me for camera down my throat and was told to go and sit outside again. So I sat and waited for quite a while. I was gagging for a drink of water so thought I’d catch his eye while he went to cafe for his sandwich and water to ask if I was allowed to drink. I asked him how long I had to wait and he just said oh I’m sorry I was meant to send you home. I told him I was very disappointed. A couple of days later I told my local Drs what had happened to which I was informed that Kendal hadn’t even requested my scan results so I asked them if they would please send them. Now I know how under funded and under staffed the NHS is but I find my situation absolutely ludicrous and makes me wonder what would have happened if it had been something more serious than my gallbladder. It worries me massively that I find myself still in pain, let alone having to write a review about my experience. Other than that the pie I ate in the car park while I waited for my lift home was lovely.
