"Abuse of an old lady with dementia"

About: Chesterfield Royal Hospital

I was admitted with chest pains I was advised by whitworth hospital Darley Dale drove myself to chesterfield royal told to pull over and dial 999 if I thought I was having heart attac was admitted to EMU ward. Old lady with dementia admitted in early hours. Staff ie nurses were mimicking her. And laughing at her. She was called Gladys. She came in with a carer from a local care home. The carer was complaining about having to stay with her. When Gladys settled went to sleep the carer proceeded to make a phone call. And was angry using the f and c word ranting. It was very distressing for other patients. later on a young girl was admitted her friend stayed with her and they didn't stop talking all night. When the curtains were opened the next morning. The two girls were in bed together. The nurses did nothing to stop the carer using foul language. Or to quiten these girls. They also chattered all night complaining about their jobs. And the carer with Gladys was wearing a Macmillan fleece! I am am a celiac and lady in next bed was also. Neither of us were fed untill 3 pm. I was moved to another ward much better still not fed properly.

Recently admitted with suspected stroke I was unable to walk or speak. Not offered any assistance. I wasn't seen for over six hours when I was seen by nurses my blood pressure was 227 over 96. They were going to put a drip in my arm to with drugs to bring BP down. It never happened. I was struggling to walk needed toilet desperately told to go down corridor unable to walk very well. When Doctor saw me my BP had come down to 222 over 80. I was sent home no after care, or follow up.

I was in Calow as an outpatient and felt unwell. I asked the nurse if she would check my BP she was very kind it was high again. The doctor looked at it and said potentially I could have a stroke. Nurse suggested that I go to A and E. Doctor sent me home despite saying I could have a stroke. I went to my GP who adjusted my medication.

A similar thing happened the week before I refused to callow as I was at McArthur glen. I asked ambulance to take me to Kings mill Mansfield they said I would receive worse treatment there, but ambulance crew were excellent and stayed with me for a while. I had excellent treatment at KingsMill. And wouldn't go to callow unless I had another episode in Chesterfield area.
