"Excellent Care"

About: Leighton Hospital

I had the misfortune to be diagnosed with colon cancer following the return of a testing kit received as part of the cancer screening programme. Frankly it came as a shock because I considered myself very fit and did not have any symptoms.

Within days of the result I was booked in for a full colonoscopy which identified a large growth. Barely a week after that I saw the consultant who confirmed the need for surgery. A date for the operation had already been booked together with all the various pre op tests and procedures.

I went in for surgery at the treatment centre on 2 December. Thankfully the surgery was entirely successful and as at 2 January I have been declared clear.

Since apparently you will edit out names all I can say is that every one and everything during my stay at Leighton was absolutely fantastic.

My heartfelt thanks to you all.

Firstly we are pleased that the outcome was good, despite some distressing times following diagnosis. We are grateful for any feedback as it helps us to improve our service where necessary and also allows us to celebrate when things go well. It is particularly pleasing that your experience was consistently good in all the departments you attended.

We will be sure to feed your lovely and kind comments back to our teams in Bowel Screening, the Treatment Centre and Endoscopy.

Tracy Falkland

Endoscopy Unit Nurse Manager
