There is a wait of between 2 and 4 weeks for a non-urgent appointment. There appears to be nothing in between a long wait and very urgent same day appointments.
In my most recent dealing with the surgery I was spoken to very rudely by staff both on reception and by the admin person who gave me my blood test results.
I queried the information given to me with my results which was that no follow up required. The test had shown a very high cholesterol reading. The admin assistant said 'Look, it's only gone up a bit since the last test - it was 6.6 then and now it's 7.2... what's your problem?' I asked her to double check that the doctor had actually said that I didn't need follow up as I assumed there would be a need for medication she said ' Just because other people take tablets it doesn't mean you need to'.
Following advice from Heart UK and a local Pharmacist I decided that I did need a GP appointment. I phoned and was asked the reason for my call... I told the receptionist the above. The response was 'OK, so why do you want to see a doctor?'. Eventually I was given a telephone apointment but I was left feeling very annoyed at being treated so badly.
My appointment with the GP was satisfactory but I found the admin person and receptionist rude and unprofessional.
I have tried to change to another surgery but unfortunately this is the only one available in this catchment area. As I said in the heading, the surgery used to be good - sadly, this is no longer the case.
"What used to be a good surgery is now not the case"
