I had a partial molar pregnancy in 2018. I had an early scan at 8 weeks, baby had a strong heartbeat. I went for my routine 12 week scan and unfortunately baby no longer had a heartbeat.
We have been trying for a baby for over a year now and thankfully I am currently 9 weeks pregnant. I have had 2 scans to check the progress of the pregnancy and so far the hospital is happy and have signed the pregnancy off as a viable pregnancy with no sign of any molar.
Today I received a phone call from Marion who will be my midwife. She called from Houldsworth centre. She was going through some of my booking appointment on the phone and mentioned previous pregnancy of course. She read on my notes about my previous pregnancy to which she stated "oh you had a molar pregnancy so it wasn't really a baby then".
I'd like to say how insensitive this is. I am well aware of the complications of a molar pregnancy baby or not this should not be a comment made by a professional midwife. Also the simple fact that my pregnancy was partial molar so there was human DNA. There WAS a heartbeat therefore I believed this to be a baby. I am not happy that a woman so far in her career would make such a horrible comment. I will be asking for another midwife as I don't want that opinion around me and my pregnancy.
"Midwifes insensitive response."
