"really poor, disorganised and long wait"

I was advised by 111 to urgently go to Casualty -I did as the stomach pains were frightening .

we sat for 2 hours to then be seen by an inexperienced nurse who took blood pressure/pulse and told us it was a 10 hour wait to be seen by trained staff.I asked him if that meant he thought it was not serious -but as he had not asked any questions this would have been difficult for him to assess-and he said he could not say it was the trained staff who could only do that.

So this attempt at "triage" probably was done to meet targets but was of no use whatever.

I then started vomiting so went home and went to the GP after a further 2 days of pain.

This hospital probably has well meaning staff but it is in need of a thorough and systemic overhaul in terms of its processes and systems and the patient should be included in this.

It was noticeable that many attendees were there with minor injuries-but their GP like mine have probably stopped doing out of hours cover and 111 plays it safe and tells everyone to attend casualty-what a farce this is and what a waste of specialist staff time.
