"Low standard of care"

About: Forth Valley Royal Hospital / Adult mental health (Wards 2,3)

(as the patient),

My care was of a low standard and psychoanalysis was poor. The nursing staff I met showed a lack of empathy and the ward environment felt like a boarding school for naughty school children, rather than an acute adult psychiatric unit.

My own medical notes from 20+ years of professional psychiatric analysis were ignored. In my opinion bad decisions were made by the psychiatrist (such as a rapid removal of medication that I'm dependent on) which gave me awful side effects (which side effects were denied to even exist despite obviously being a well established fact).

As my condition worsened due to the removal of necessary medication, my worsening symptoms and subsequent hypomania were treated as rebellion rather than concern. I saw staff on their facebook / instagram very regularly. Very poor service overall, disappointed, went in to get help at an unstable time of long term mental illness, and came out in a far worse condition. I will be following up this breach of duty of care with every avenue & resource available.

Dear Vulnerable Patient,

I am sorry to hear about your recent experience in hospital and the concerns you have raised and would be keen to discuss this with you.

Could you please give my colleague Jacqueline Maher Clinical Nurse manager a call via the reception on 01324 566272 to discuss this further.

If its more helpful you can leave a message for her and she will get back to you

Many thanks

Anne
