"Advice when I had pain in my upper abdomen"

About: IC24 NHS 111 / NHS 111 (East Kent) William Harvey Hospital (Ashford) / Accident and emergency

(as the patient),

Hi, I contacted my GP Surgery to say that I was suffering with pain in my upper abdomen and the GP (not my usual GP) said that I should wait a week or so and see my usual GP as she is familiar with my history. I was not overly pleased with this as the pain was quite bad. It worsened during the evening and at around 10pm it was very uncomfortable. I phoned 111 and was advised to either go to hospital if the pain increased or to see a GP in the morning and the lady I spoke to said that she would send a note to the GP Surgery with her recommendations. I think that I spoke with Kelly and Diane. Both were patient with me, listened well and I felt reassured by the advice. I ended up in A&E - twice in the last 2 weeks - still awaiting diagnosis...

Hi Frances,

Thank you for taking the time to recognise the service you received from our team. It is great to hear that you felt reassured by the advice that you received. I will make sure that the locality team is aware so they can feed back to those involved in your care.

Best wishes for the new year, and fingers crossed for a diagnosis and recovery soon.

Richard
