"Emergency Appendectomy"

About: Lincoln County Hospital / General surgery

(as the patient),

Recently I was suffering what I suspected was stomach flu, but after it got worse, a call to 111 (free NHS diagnosis line) suspected appendicitis. They wanted me to go straight into A&E, but me being me, I refused and went to my GP the next day. My GP was very caring and also suspected appendicitis, so rather than send me to wait in the overloaded A&E, sent me with an immediate referral letter to the Surgical Admissions Unit at #lincolncountyhospital

There after being triaged by a team of very friendly nurses, I was seen to by a Doctor within a couple of hours, and booked in for surgery that afternoon.

I was given a bed on admissions straight away whilst I waited for surgery, but they decided after a couple of hours that I'd be more comfortable down in Surgical Recovery, so was moved down there. Later that evening, I went into surgery and came out again in a few hours.

I was discharged the next day and I'm currently resting at home, sore and achey and minus one appendix, but otherwise healthy and happy and in the care of my doting wife.

During my stay, I was treated with nothing but constant respect and care by a warm and friendly team at LCH, and there were a lot of them! Porters, Nurses, Doctors, Anaesthetists and Surgeons.

THANK YOU
