"Mixed experience"

About: University Hospital Hairmyres / Diabetes care (Ward 10)

(as a volunteer/advocate),

Ward 10

I was given cream that I should not have been given and it burnt my skin and flared up my phorsirois I had to go into the shower to try and wash it off it was burning so bad. I have not seen the doctor to explain to him how bad it was.

My treatment has been explained to me. The nurses are great, whenever you ask for anything you get it straight away. The porters are great and always give us a laugh and are so pleasant. The ward is very clean, and cleaner is very pleasant.

The food is not that great, it is just nothing to my taste.

Some of the staff from that provide food service seem so miserable, the attitude is not very nice. When we ask for a cuppa or anything the response is not nice.

Dear Uhh184 (as a volunteer/advocate),

I am happy to hear that the porters and domestic staff where pleasant and made you smile and that you found the ward was clean.

Unfortunately food does not always meet everyone's tastes due to many different reasons. Patients can ask to speak to the catering manager who would be happy to discuss requirement's.

I am sorry that the staff serving the meals were not pleasant and I will pass this on to the relevant manager to address.

Regards

William
