My father entered the health and care services of the NHS in July 2019 and was taken initially to A & E following a deterioration in his dementia. This cannot be the most appropriate route to channel this type of patient. I cannot fault the staff who were outstanding but I do feel there is a lack of understanding from front line clinical staff about the complexities and context of dementia.
Thereafter once he was admitted to Grenoside Grange the care, at all levels, has been again outstanding and we could not have wished for a better outcome delivered with passion, patience and professionalism.
