"Latch C great care and compassion "

About: North Cumbria Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust

I’m currently staying in Larch C for appendicitis. I’m so appreciative of everyone’s kindness and care here. Being very far away from home I feel I’ve had someone with me every step of the way to offer me reassurance and support. What a fantastic day and night team. The only comment i’d make is the luck of beds and slight chaos n A&E but I appreciate nationally the NHS is under pressure. Despite this the staff were again supportive, although more regular communication post triage would be my only advice :-)

Dear Frances

Many thanks for taking the time to post your feedback about Larch C ward here at the Cumberland Infirmary.

It is pleasing to read that your care is supportive, kind and reassuring. It is always unsettling to be ill but especially so when you are far away from home.

I will pass on your comments to the ward manager to share with the team on the Emergency Surgical Assessment Unit as I am sure she will be delighted to share this with the team.

I completely understand your feelings re your admission via A&E and your thoughts surrounding regular communication…. I am sure the staff aim to provide updates to all patients, please accept my apologies that you were not provided with enough information whilst waiting on transfer to the ward. Our staff really do care what people think, we know they work incredibly hard and they will be very pleased to hear that their support is recognised and appreciated by the patients.

I hope you are feeling much better today
