"Bad attitude"

About: Bishop Auckland Hospital

Attended a pre booked chest X-ray for possible fracture. This was booked because I had a crackle breathing and it was painful to breath, I also have osteoporosis after 30yrs of taking steroids after a kidney transplant. When I arrived I was informed they didn’t X-ray for broken ribs as they can’t do anything, which I knew. Then I was asked why I was sent (as stated above), and if I wanted a ‘blast of unnecessary radiation then I could’. The attitude of the person absolutely stunk. It was more than his jobs worth, if the place was busy I could have understood it. He then asked me again if I wanted an unnecessary xray and rather than create a fuss I told him to forget it.

I’ve been attending numerous hospitals for renal problems and other things for over 35 years and have always praised and complimented the NHS for their exemplary treatment which is free. I’ve never come across anyone, until today, who couldn’t give a damn!

Shame - I had hoped Bishop Auckland hospital could be saved but if all the staff have that attitude, it won’t.
