I have just visited the Minor Injuries unit at Edenbridge Memorial Hospital and waited about 30mins with my 3 year old and baby.
Several layers of my three year old's nail (almost half of it) had peeled off and could have ripped off at any moment. She wouldn't let me touch it, cut it off or clean it hence the visit.
When I went in there were one or two people waiting. When we were seen, we were the only ones in the waiting room (apart from an elderly man in a wheelchair who was looking to be moved and not seen by the MIU).
I was told by the nurse that she wouldn't do anything and that I had to wait for it to soak in the bath and pull it off.
Great advice, but there was no one in the waiting area so I was a bit confused as to why she couldn't have cut it off and cleaned it - it's not like the unit was busy or anything?
So I feel like I wasted her time, my time and dragged both the kids out unnecessarily (baby with a bad cold too). When it could have been seen to and dealt with quite easily - especially as there were no patients waiting.
Quite disappointing as on other occasions the staff have been quite lovely and happy to help.
