Where do I start, this practice is a joke!
I had an appointment with a doctor regarding first pregnancy. I was expecting questions like - when my last period was or how late is it. Even to carry out a pregnancy test as a minimum. I was expecting information about foods or medicines I need to avoid. None of this information was given apart from hanging me a paper with a self-referral link to a maternity unit at a hospital.
I was prescribed vitamins, I wasn't advised as pregnant woman I am eligible to apply for maternity exemption certificate and I shouldn't be paying for any prescription. I found from a different source later on.
I suffer from irregular heart beats and panic attacks. I had palpitations with upper back pain. We have a heart disease history in my family. The Doctor told me that the heart is at the front and not at the back so nothing to worry about and to take paracetamol. I was shocked.
I applied for maternity exemption certificate around a week ago by completing a form. I called the reception today to enquire if my GP has signed for it and if it was sent. The receptionist didn't know what this certificate is and asked me to spell the word 'exemption'. I was told to call back the next day to find out as she didn't know the answer and the person she could ask will be in the practice the next day.
I will be changing my GP for sure. This is just not right.
"Avoid - terrible experience"
