"Do not starve"

About: King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust

I was last here as an inpatient about a year ago, and it is interesting to note that the food has not changed in one important way. Most of it is still inedible, sometimes accompanied by a nauseating smell. If there are special rules covering mentioning an individual product I shall apologise in advance lest I break one.

Porridge.

This is a warm sticky liquid, falling somewhere between mucus and glue, but with an entertaining of lumps to investigate while eating.

Not like any porridge previously encountered.

The toast is raw and made of an interesting bread substitute.

Last year’s ward weighed each patient each day, appearing to do nothing with the data. The current ward only weighs on demand, thus missing a weight change of over five kilos in the first two weeks. My family have started bringing in food to avoid starvation.

Would you recommend this unit to your friends and family?

I think not, at least until the unappetising stench of the food has left my nostrils.
