"Outstanding care"

About: Colchester General Hospital

On 15 September 2019 I had a fall in Clacton, and was eventually admitted via A&E at Colchester Hospital. After tests, it was established that I had sustained a fracture to C6 and was admitted to Fordham Ward.

I cannot praise too highly the care I received from the moment I entered A&E until I was discharged from the ward. The ward staff were so caring and understanding.

I have worked within the NHS for many years and had been a patient on a number of occasions, at different hospitals I might add, so have quite a lot of experience of the hospital environment.

Colchester Hospital care was exemplary.

After being discharged, I had to attend 'Plasters' each week - once again the care and friendliness was excellent. Wearing a neck brace for weeks on end is not the most comfortable apparel, but we did manage to find some humour in the situation. Your staff may recognise me as 'Mrs No-neck'!!

I am sorry to hear that you had a fall that resulted in you being admitted to Fordham ward via A&E. It is great to hear that your care and treatment as an in patient was exemplary. I will also make sure that your comments are passed on to the "plasters" team who will be thrilled to read how they impacted on your overall treatment, care and overall experience. Many thanks
