"You do the NHS proud"

About: Royal Hospital for Children (Glasgow) / Day surgery

(as a service user),

We were overwhelmed with the level of care my son received on being admitted from A and E with testicular pain and inflammation. All staff made him feel as comfortable, respected and in control as possible.   The surgeon personally spoke to me on the phone to explain the possible scenarios he might find when they operated.   This was having already explained the situation fully to my son and husband.   Both surgeons took us back to see our son when he came round and took time to explain fully their diagnosis and the procedure he had received.   Thereafter and in the lead up to the short operation the anaesthetist and the nursing staff were outstanding in their approach - meticulously careful and warmly humorous with my child.   Thank you so much to the staff involved.   You do the NHS proud.

Dear JWK

Many thanks for sharing your feedback on Care Opinion.

I am very sorry to hear of your son's recent emergency admission and subsequent surgery. This will have been a very worrying time for you and your family, however it is lovely to hear of the compassionate care and support you received from the teams looking after you all and the difference that this made. I have passed your kind feedback on to the teams in the Emergency Department, Theatres and Day Surgery and it makes such a difference to them to receive this.

I hope your son is doing well and making a good recovery.

Best wishes

Pam
