"Not happy"

About: County Hospital

Ward 15 Elderly care - not having a nice experience of this ward currently my relative is on the ward, list of issues, relative left with just sheet on and no blanket, the bays are cold, relative on red tray but not given today, therefore no help with feeding, no one able to give updates on relatives care, things agreed with care only to be changed with next shift! all too busy say be with you in a minute, but too busy, made to feel like a nuisance, all seems disjointed and cahotic, they all try their best but always hearing they short staffed which doesn’t give much confidence in leaving a loved one in their care, OT’s are very caring, never get to speak to doctor unless you demand one, just not enjoying the experience at all with relative so poorly on the ward, also might not seem important but it is - no cup of tea even when been there hours and helping with their patient! A cup of tea goes along way when you worrying and tired trying to be there for your loved one, something needs addressing I am afraid - they have a charter which says “ok to ask” is it! Communication is everything!

I am so sorry to read that you are having such a poor experience while your relative is on Ward 15. I have shared your posting with Matron and the Senior Nurse. We would welcome the opportunity to discuss this with you in person to help us to improve the situation. If you are happy to speak to a member of our PALS team to provide your details please contact them directly on 01782 676455

Kind Regards

Angela Grocott
