I had an appointment for a hysteroscopy yesterday. The night before my appointment I stupidly googled about it. Where there was alot of horror stories from women that had had one, saying how painful it was. So by the time I had got to Boston hospital my anxiety levels were through the roof, I was petrified of what was going to happen to me. But, when I got called through by the lovely Steph, she explained to me what would be happening and reassured me that nobody had ever left in tears, and if I was to feel any unbearable pain then she would stop immediately. I was already calmer just after having that chat with her. She took me into the room were I would be having it done and introduced me to the 2 lovely nurses that would be helping her, Rachel and Janet. All 3 ladies were lovely, reassuring and made me feel totally calm. They explained that when the camera was inserted into my womb that I would feel period like cramps but nothing worse. And they were correct, that is the only discomfort I felt. I even watched on the screen what they were looking at in my womb which was quite fascinating! I had a biopsy taken, then a marina coil fitted and that was it, over. All in all it took about 10 minutes. After I had got dressed, I had a little chat with Steph about what she had done and the next steps and then I was free to leave. And to be honest I felt abit of a wolly for spending so long being so scared of going! It really wasn't that bad and certainly wasn't as painful as I had expected after reading the things that were on the internet.
