"The nurses kept me at ease"

About: Lincoln County Hospital / Gynaecology

(as the patient),

I'm currently 24 and my first smear test invitation came fairly early (before turning 25). So I booked in straight away to get checked out.

A few weeks later, my doctor called me to explain they've found abnormal cells and positive for HPV therefore, I'd need further checks at the hospital.

They got me in within a week, when arriving to my appointment I was very anxious and ended up in tears as soon as the doctor asked how I was.

I had 3 very lovely nurses with me, and two of them held my hands as I was literally shaking with worry, while the colposcopist did their investigating.

I ended up having 2 biopsies, it was painless but granted, uncomfortable.

But the nurses kept me at ease and helped me stay calm. I couldn't of thanked them more!

Even better, I had good results. But I really don't think I'd of got myself on the bed if the nurses hadn't of helped me and talked me through everything in detail.

Thank you very much, we are so privileged to have such excellent nurses/doctors!

Dear WollyHollyLolly,

Thank you very much for your feedback following your recent visit to the Colposcopy clinic at Lincoln Gynaecology Outpatient Department.

It is really encouraging to know that you attended for your cervical screening test when you were invited, and as a result they were able to identify these abnormalities so that they could be treated promptly. You should be commended for doing this and we are glad your experience was a positive one. Hopefully your positive comments will encourage others to attend their screening appointments too - thank you for this.

We really encourage and welcome patient feedback in order that we know what the patients experience is of our services, and if there are any areas we need to improve. Therefore when we receive positive feedback, it is really welcomed by the whole team and it is very rewarding to know that you felt you received the excellent patient centred experience that we are passionate about providing.

Thank you again for taking the time to leave your feedback - I will ensure this is shared with the whole team.

We wish you well for the future.

kind regards

Debbie Richards
