"Outstanding Care"

About: Gartnavel General Hospital / Elderly Medicine (wards 2a, 2b, 2c, 3a, 3c, 4c, 5c, 6a, 8a & 8c)

(as a service user),

My dad was recently in ward 3C in Gartnavel. The care shown by the team was outstanding. The nurse in charge was Gemma. The doctor, the nurses, the auxiliary nurses, the bank staff, the kitchen staff, the physios, the OT, I cant thank them enough for all the care that they showed. They were all lovely and they showed a lot of empathy and care towards my dad and also took into consideration family politics where a certain member of family was not allowed to visit because it gives dad a lot of stress, and his care and well being were the utmost priority. The team should be very proud of the care that they give. Until recently for years I had no idea how hard the staff work, and how they put patients ahead of themselves. They are an invaluable part of society, and my thanks is not enough for the important role they play in the care for the elderly. I sincerely appreciate all of you and the hard work that you all put in

Thank you Rachel

Caring for the elderly is a team effort, actually achieving anything is a team effort. And if you have one bad apple it can ruin the rest of the team's efforts. You are very lucky that in Gemma's ward you have a great team. I have been in other places where some carers dont care. its just a job and a wage. Thankfully not so much in Gartnavel, and also Ward 5C under Val in Queen Elizabeth too. They are also very good.

Hello Fatherwasunwell,

Yes, Gemma and the team at ward 3C are an absolute credit to us! I agree it is always a team effort.

Thank you also for your kind feedback about ward 5C at the Queen Elizabeth, I will make sure that is passed on to them too.

Best Wishes,

Rachel
