"Bad practice"

About: St Austell Health Group

After being discharged from hospital with dementia and being promised phone calls and assessments of my father we are still waiting for someone to contact us. We have had no response from the drs despite several calls. My family and I have expressed our concerns for both his and my mothers mental state but still he has not even had a careers assessment nothing and no body cares. I have cancer and I am along with my sister who works full time and my elderly mother are trying to care for him with absolutely no help. I think this is absolute disgusting. I am so stressed with this and this is obviously happening to a lot of people.

Dear Anonymous,

Thank you for your review. Please could you contact me via email at complaints.sahc@nhs.net so that I can look into this?

We have an Integration Nurse who contacts patients such as your father following discharge from hospital. The Integration Nurse acts as a point of contact, concentrating mostly on elderly, vulnerable and house bound patients.

Our doctors will call patients back within 5 working days, often quicker, so do please accept our apologies if you have not heard back within the usual timeframe.

I am sorry to hear of the stress that you are under, and hope that you have had contact from our doctors in the time taken for this review to be published.

Kind regards,

Anita McMillan, Business Support Manager
