"GP of the year award"

About: General practices in Lothian Queen Margaret Hospital / Respiratory Medicine Royal Victoria Hospital (Edinburgh) St John's Hospital / Respiratory Medicine Western General Hospital / Respiratory Medicine

(as the patient),

I'd like to thank Dr. Service (South Queensferry Health Centre) for the outstanding care I've received for adult onset Eosinophilic Asthma.  In 2008 I went from being a lifelong active & fit person - I work with horses & dogs - to being in HDU & IDU within six months.  I spent approx eight to twelve weeks in hospital per year for the following decade.  I have fought to find any treatment that could bring back some semblence of the life I had.  I have taken every treatment available - including being one of the first Xolair studies in Scotland.  I am still fighting for BT (Bronchial Thermoplasty) - but that's a decade long story.  The care, consideration, understanding & "real life awareness" I've received from Dr. Service at *every appointment" - has been outstanding.  Not only does he approach each appointment with welcoming light humour, he remembers the last time you saw him & how you were in both mental & physical well being.

If there was an award for GP of the year he should win - purely for putting up with me!

Dear capellakg58

Thank you so much for sharing this lovely feedback with us.

It sounds as though the last few years have been a really difficult time for you but l was so pleased to read how Dr Service has cared for you both physically and mentally during this time.

I have shared your lovely feedback with him and the practice team at South Queensferry and I am sure that they will be delighted to read your kind words.

With best wishes

Jeannette
