"Doctors appointment"

About: General practices in Fife

(as the patient),

Went to see a GP as I thought I had a UTI. The GP asked me "How can I help you? I proceeded to tell them that I think I have a UTI & they replied in telling me that I could have been seen at ASDA chemist or they have a triage nurse. I didn't even know they had a triage nurse. This made me feel as if I was wasting the GPs time, I went on to ask were do you get the information about this & they replied NHS Website. Not everyone has internet especially the elderly.

1. I thought if I was unwell I would need to see a doctor.

2. Why would I look on NHS Website.

3. I suggested about putting it on there notice board & they replied I think it was their but not everyone reads them.

The doctor has no bedside manner, I work in a caring profession & I DO NOT behave like this. You want your doctor to have that caring, friendly approach.

I am going to speak to the practice manager about my experience.

Dear Michellem

I was sorry to read about your recent experience at your GP. The doctor is correct in that the are now multple ways in which a patient may access treatment for certain conditions such as UTI's, however it is disappointing to hear that in communicating this information you where made to feel this way.

As each GP practice is managed independently I would encourge you to raise your concerns directly with the practice manager.

Kind regards

Chris McKenna
