I attended A&E on Friday 25th October and waited from 6:00 till 11:00 to see a consultant. I went home to bed at 11:00 because there was panic stations in the wards I knew I would not be seen. I returned at 9:30 Saturday 26th and waited from 9:30 till 3:00 when I managed to see a junior Doctor. I was finally diagnosed with a Diverticular abscess ( peritonitis) at about 5:00 after a CT scan and then immediately received treatment. After five days in hospital I was sent home. Once you get onto a ward the service is very good, but to be forced to wait nearly 17 hours for a diagnosis in A & E is unacceptable. In fact the waiting times at A& E are a disgrace, and they have been made worse because patients are now coming from Kidderminster and Redditch.
"abysmal waiting time at A & E"
