"rude and unprofessional shambles of a practice"

About: Blackwater Medical Centre

My daughter has serious mental health issues and is on a cocktail of medications to keep her stable and it is imperative she gets her meds. She was due a review and to get a prescription but have tried everyday for a week to book an appointment to see the doctor. Started ringing at 8.00 on day one and didn't get throught til 11.30 to be told the surgery was shutting at midday there no appointment!!! next day got up and rang at 8am and was in a long queue and the option to get a call back. I did this an was not called back. This continued each day by which time my daughter had no tablets left. I spoke to reception who said they would issue emergency supply and to book an appointment as soon as possible. That's a joke because by time you get through all the appointments for that day are gone... I went to collect the medication for my daughter and paid 27 pounds for the three items only to discover on arriving home that they had merely given her one days supply of medication ...I returned immediately to ask why id been charged what she pays for a months supply. Dispensary should have known it was emergency supply and only charged for the full prescription yet to be issued. Maybe I should turn up with my daughter when she is having a psychotic episode and tell them to deal with it if they cant administer the meds shes been told she needs by the psychiatric team shes under...why is it such a big issue trying to get seen and given the prescription.Trying to get an appointment is a feat in itself and the receptionist I spoke to was so rude and uncaring. They should realise that people who are suffering mental issues do not need further stress of trying to obtain medication they need. As her mother its stressful enough for me watching a child suffer mentally and then extremely frustrating not being able to access a GP to obtain vital drugs and personally im dealing with this and another daughter going through cancer treatment and constant hospitals appointments I do not have hours to spend waiting on a phone only to be told so rudely there are no appointments left. When you are under immense strain and pressure and not to mention the worry you do not need the rudeness and the hassle to add to it. This practice needs organising. The phone systems don't work. I was number one in the queue at one point for over half an hour! When they answer they are so inpolite you feel almost apologetic for asking for an appointment. The last thing we want is to be visiting doctors anyway and the attached pharmacy can never ever get prescription right or lose them ...

I am sorry you were unhappy with the service you received, however, it is very difficult to investigate problems when we do not have the name of the patient. Please forward your complaint to the Practice Manager
