"my daughter (with a learning disability)'s treatment"

About: Stoke Mandeville Hospital / Neurology Stoke Mandeville Hospital / Oral surgery Stoke Mandeville Hospital / Trauma and orthopaedics

(as a service user),

My daughter who has Down Syndrome is 17. Over the past year I have had occasion to use many departments in Stoke Mandeville with her, including neurology, orthopaedics and oral surgery. I had asked for a referral to Stoke as I was shocked at some of the treatment she received at another hospital. The consultant we saw there wouldn't acknowledge her presence and was extremely rude.

The experience we had across the board at Stoke Mandeville couldn't have been more different. Every member of staff has treated her with respect. They have all taken the time to ensure she knows whats happening and have explained tests and results in a way that she can understand. I cannot praise the staff of Stoke Mandeville enough.

Thank you.
