"severe tinnitus"

About: Royal Cornwall Hospital (Treliske) / Audiological medicine

(as the patient),

Generally the NHS provides an excellent service to the public but the way in which results of tests are conveyed back to the patient can sometimes feel rather unsatisfactory. This can involve ringing your GP to receive nothing more than "you're OK" or an anxious wait for post with the no news is good news policy.

By contrast, the service provided by the Audiology department at Treliske has been excellent in the way that the patient has face to face contact with specialists. Mrs Crompton, Hearing Therapist, spent many hours going through results with me and patiently explained courses of action. Further appointments to check progress were much appreciated and very useful.

Dear Rob G,

Thank you for taking the time to feedback on your experience. My name is Melissa McDermott and I am Head of Audiology and Mrs Crompton is one of my team.

It is great to hear that the service we provide is valued and has made difference. I will ensure that I update Mrs Crompton and the team with your feedback. As you have noted giving people the time to understand results and any planned treatment is really important. Not only are patients fully informed about their condition but are able to make the most of the treatment or interventions.

Thank you again for your feedback.

Kind regards

Melissa
