"Fantastic care"

About: Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust - City Campus / General medicine

(as a service user),

Earlier this week I was admitted to Berman 1 Ward with a suspected TIA. The whole team, particularly the nurses, medical team, Pharmacist and the Therapy team were all so kind, caring and understanding. I was seen by everyone in such an organised and proactive way. It was fantastic to see how a great team works. A special mention to the night sister looking after me over night was so lovely.

The only negative thing I have to say was about the lack of Gluten Free food available in the evening. I was admitted after tea time and had not eaten since lunch. The only food options were sandwiches and soup both of which I cannot eat. There was no option to get any food from anywhere else so I ended up having nothing. Having some Gluten Free options on the ward is essential for Coeliac patients. Some fruit or GF cereals, crackers or even biscuits could be a good option.

Other than that, I had a fantastic experience on the ward. Thank you all so much.

Thank you for such lovely feedback, I’ve shared your message with all my colleagues on Berman 1, we’re glad you felt we looked after you well. And a great suggestion about having snacks available for patients who have special dietary needs and have missed dinner (our mealtime menu does make sure patients special dietary needs are met). We will certainly look into this.

Best wishes from all of us on the ward.

Krista Camina, Ward Manager, Berman 1
