"Head injury 86-year old waits 6 hours at night…"

About: York Hospital

My 86-year-old mother-in-law had a fall on Saturday night which gave her a head injury which bled badly. There was no non-emergency ambulance to be had for love or money, nor could I get a taxi for her. I had to find someone with a car to take her.

Then she had to wait for 6 hours late at night to be patched up - she got home at 4 a.m.!

This is more reminiscent of Third World countries than what should be happening in the UK in the 21st century!

Thank you for getting in touch and letting us know about the treatment your mother-in-law received. I am so sorry to hear of your experience in the Emergency Department and please accept my sincere apologies for the delay you experienced. I do hope your mother-in-law is feeling better and that we are able to provide a much better experience for you should you need to return to us.
