"Always listen to your doctor"

After feeling a little unwell during the day I made an appointment to see my doctor that evening. My symptoms were slight short of breath an ache in my lower back and a slight discomfort on the right side of my chest. The doctor assessed me very quickly and did a set of obs which were within a normal range however wasnt satisfied with my symptoms and suggested I immediately went to a & e at Medway Martime for further investigation. I am usually very fit and healthy and do not visit the doctor. Once in a &e I was seen very quickly an an ecg performed. There was a borderline abnormality that the doctor requested a chest xray which picked up a pneumothorax on my right lung. A chest drain was put in immediately and I stayed in hospital for two days to recover. I was due to fly to Lanzarote the following week so without the great advice from the doctor things could of been very different. As it happens despite being discharged with an inflated lung it happened again in the same week and I was sent to London Bridge Hospital for keyhole surgery. Thank you to the doctor for putting your patient first...sometimes it is not always apparent what is going on inside your body so he did the right thing to push for me to go to hospital for further tests and potentially saved my life.
