"I've been kept informed"

About: University Hospital Hairmyres / General Medicine (Wards 9-12)

(as a volunteer/advocate),

Ward 8

My stay has been ok. I've been kept informed of everything that I have asked, nurses and doctors get back to me straight away with updates on my care plan.

Ward is so clean as domestic staff are constantly cleaning.

The food is very repetitive, lunches are the same choice and dinners are very bland and tasteless. My family are now bringing my food into me. I would like to see menu items with a bit more taste and more protein options.

Staff show care and compassion. I came in on Saturday in a state of anxiety and they put me at ease and calmed me.

Staff on night shift are loud, they forget patients are trying to sleep. I have spoken to them about this but nothing has been done.

Dear UHH143,

Thanks for taking the time to provide the feedback above on behalf of one our patients in Ward 8. I'm really glad to learn that they felt so well cared for and that the ward is so clean. I will be sure to share this with the ward and domestic staff as I know it will mean a lot to them. I will also ask the Senior Charge Nurse to remind her team about doing their best not to disturb patients overnight.

I've shared your comments about food the with my relevant colleagues.

All the best,

Cameron
