Following a routine colonoscopy an abnormal polyp was discovered that could not be removed during the colonoscopy. That is when I was referred to my surgeon, Mr. Kelkar. From the onset of my initial consultation with Mr. Kelkar, wherein I received in-depth and easy to understand details of my pending surgery and the subsequent recovery in the Kettering General Hospital, Mr. Kelkar exceeded every conceivable expectation. In fact, in my opinion he set the standard for all other surgeons to emulate.
First, Mr. Kelkar’s exemplary reputation as a surgeon precedes him. Suffice it to say he is the consummate professional. Without doubt he justifiably earned and deserves his place among the preeminent colorectal surgeons not just in the UK but also in the world. I feel so fortunate to have had him as my surgeon.
It’s important to understand what makes Mr. Kelkar so very special is not just because he’s a brilliant surgeon, which he obviously is, but also his so very important “bedside manner” evident constantly during his daily visits during my two week hospital stay. There were five surgical patients on my ward but only two of us had Mr. Kelkar as our surgeon. He showed genuine compassion, concern, and overall “bedside manner”.
If a patient has the good fortune of getting Mr. Kelkar as their surgeon they receive the “complete package” of unrivalled excellence. If you ask me if there is an area where Mr. Kelkar can improve my unequivocal answer is that there is none. After all, how does one improve on perfection?
"My surgery and subsequent hospital care."
