"Cared for not simply as a patient, but as an individual"

About: Royal Alexandra Hospital / Accident & Emergency Royal Alexandra Hospital / Gynaecology (Ward 32)

(as a service user),

I have been under the watchful eye the Gynaecological Team at the RAH for the last year. I was admitted for tests and subsequent major surgery in October 2019.

I was anxious to at the thought of dealing with my health issues. But that anxiety was dispelled from the moment I attended the outpatient appointment through to discharge from the ward.  Throughout  my time under the care of the Drs, nurses, nursing auxiliaries and even the secretaries I felt at ease and cared for not simply as a patient with a hospital number, but as an individual.

The care and attention to both medical, social and emotional needs was exceptional. The atmosphere in the ward was calm and efficient even at times when the ward was busy. It was clear that there was harmony among the staff and even when arriving as an emergency in the middle of the night  I was greeted by name with a smile . The tea and toast was delicious!

As someone with mobility difficulties I found the attentiveness to the need for help with showering and personal care whilst on the ward was very much appreciated. I have had various health challenges that have meant admission to hospital, but my recent stay in Ward 32 @ the RAH was by far the most positive experience. The staff on the ward are my new heroes!
