"Disgusting , no mental health training"

About: Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust

I was took by Ambulance to st James around

930pm yesterday , blood pressure was low managed to get it up abit . I was I’ll again exactly the same problem but it was a lot worse , I haven’t eaten or drank or wee , for 3 days I have got home I had to be took by stranger home because st James

Discharged me I told them I had no money they said and I quote ‘ you got here you can get back ‘ I was rushed into hopistal via ambulance I had no money or bank card on me.. they didn’t give me any pain relief except for this like crayon that went up my bum , they checked my blood pressure once at around 10 30. I got moved down to discharged bit of A and E no nurse Came to check me. A doctor came about 12 I discussed what was wrong she didn’t even listen. She said we can’t treat you I’ll give you some tablet yet I can’t keep anything down at the moment. She ignored everything I got extremely upset. Said okay but I have no money to get home.

Then a nurse came said look we can’t get you you have to leave or we will get security. I’m single mum with 2 kids my mum isn’t well and yes I do have a mental illness they know this I’m involved with mental health team and adult social services. So they kicked out 23 year old mum who is vulnerable adult out of hospital around 2:30. They offered me tablets but they don’t work because I can’t even keep my anti depressants down, I shouldn’t be taking tablet on empty stomach. Due to my past. I told them this. Because I wee’d a Tiny bit they don’t care about that they only give me one bag fluid. How is that going to make up for 3 days no food no water. They don’t care ! I was sat our st James crying on the phone to my mum lucky this oldish couple had heard me they live in yeadon so they gave me lift but imagine if they hadn’t heard me or seen , I begged for help off them nurse they was rude they tried to turn on my I wasn’t being rude I was having panic attack, I was scared. I have two kids and not very well mum to get back to I live Guiseley. This has gone to far the nurse even refused to speak to my mum on the phone. My mum just wanted to chat them. They didn’t do my obs after , this second time I have been to sent st James and yet again my mental illness gets pushed to side and people think it’s act yeah well you know from my records as one of you staff said it ‘ oh you had it from young age’ infront of everybody.. I have contact pals and your complaints team , last time I was in I was told by women who worked at desk not as nurse or a doctor or even juinor or a student .. don’t play the mental card ... while have a panic attack.. all you got to is look at my record and read them carefully. This won’t be over luckily for me my mum was on the other end of phone while this was going on.

Thank you for taking the time to write to us.

I am very sorry to read that you had such a distressing time whilst in our care. The level of service that you have described is not what we wish to offer.

It would be useful for our services and for future patients if you could discuss the matters you have raised further with our Trust’s Patient Advise and Liaison Service (PALS). This would also allow us look into the matters you have raised more thoroughly.
