My wife and I moved from England to Carlow 10yrs. ago to see our grandchildren grow up and, we have enjoyed every moment.
Recently I was struck by a bout of pneumonia and was admitted to the A & E department. 4 days later I was discharged back to my family. As a 75yr. old I grew up within the NHS system, which I consider as an elite, an example for others around the world to follow. How wrong I have been, everything is so formal back home MR. this and Mr. that, your a number, an item. I'm not saying the end results are any different, its that it seems so cool.
On arrival at A & E my details were taken and from then on it was first names, every conversation included your christian name, they told you who they where, what they were doing, did you want this or that, all with a "no bother" reply.
I write to let you know how I feel about the staff in A & E and that you will convey my sincere thanks and best wishes on my behalf
"Touched by A & E staff"
