"Emergency surgery"

About: NHS 24 / NHS 24 (111 service) University Hospital Wishaw / General Surgery (Wards 16-18)

(as a service user),

Following a call to nhs24, I was operated on for an incarcerated inguinal hernia today.   I have read reports on failings of the health service but I can only praise the care I received.   From nhs24 to accident and emergency, ward 16 ambulatory care then theatre and day surgery post op.   What professionalism and hard working staff.   I can only say thank you from the bottom of my heart for taking good care of me and wishaw general managers, you have a very dedicated team from the porters, nurses and doctors, amazing team. Thank you.

Dear DuncanC

I was sorry to learn you required surgery and I wish you a speedy recovery. I am sure this will have been a worrying time for you and for your family.

It is especially good of you to thank the staff members involved in your care so soon after your surgery.

Here at NHS 24 a positive patient experience is one of our top priorities. If you would be kind enough to contact us with some further detail, then we would be able to identify the staff member who managed the call to NHS 24. Our Patient Experience Team can be contacted on 0141 337 4597 or by email at patient.experience@nhs24.scot.nhs.uk

I am sure my colleagues within NHS Lanarkshire will be equally delighted with your complimentary feedback. The staff within Wishaw General sound like they are a huge credit to the NHS.

With best wishes

Shona

Hi Duncan

Thanks so much for getting in touch! I was a pleasure to speak with you and I am delighted you are doing so well.

With the additional information you have provided, we will be able to share your story with the staff member here at NHS 24 who managed the call made to us on 111. Here at NHS 24, we don't often get to hear about the follow up care provided to patients when they are referred to hospital, so it is great to be able to share your positive experience.

Thanks again and best wishes for a continued good recovery.

Take care

Shona
