About: New Victoria Hospital / Elderly Medicine (Ward 1 and 2) South Lanarkshire Council

(as a relative),

My mother has been in the new Victoria hospital in Glasgow for 11 weeks

They are happy to discharge her but on the condition she receives 4 home visits a week.

South Lanarkshire NHS will not agree this, insisting on only 2.

This has been going on for weeks, with the hospital unwilling to send her home and South Lanarkshire refusing to agree to the service she requires.

In the meantime my 85 year old partially sighted father is visiting her in hospital 6 days a week.

Thank you for getting in touch Gia. I am very sorry to read about the difficulties regarding your Mum’s discharge from hospital and the impact this is having on all of you.

I have discussed this with the Discharge Team and can we suggest that you contact South Lanarkshire’s Home Care Service to discuss your Mum’s needs, as we can only discharge patients home when it is safe to do so.
