"Visit to Stroke Clinic"

About: Crosshouse Hospital / Stroke Care

(as the patient),

I am writing to express my sincere thanks to the wonderful staff at Crosshouse Hospital Yesterday was my first time attending the  hospital.  The layout was unfamiliar but ii was mmediately approached by several  members of staff  i.e a porter,  a nurse and a doctor to ask if I needed help finding my way. On arrival at the Stroke Clinic. I was taken within minutes for ECG. I was then taken for ultrasound and handed the report within 5min. I was directed upstairs to level three to be greeted by a lovely nurse called Marion. She was extremely professional and put me at ease instantly. Within minutes I was called through to see          Dr Rennie, the Stroke Doctor.  Dr Rennie informed  me that  I had suffered a TIA. She went on to explain the risk factors and to highlight the positive factors to me in detail. Dr Rennie listened carefully to everything I told her. I I left the room feeling extremely reassured. I was then sent to X-ray dept for CT scan of my brain once again I was seen within a few minutes,. From there went to Pharmacy to collect new prescription.

This all happened within two and a half hours.. What a wonderful level of service by extremely competent and caring staff.

We are so lucky in this country to have the NHS.

With sincere thanks

Dear PERRO,

Thank you for posting your comments via care opinion. It is so nice to read your feedback in relation to your visit to the TIA clinic. It must have been a really worrying time when you experienced your symptoms.

It is so important to get your investigations completed quickly to allow treatment to be commenced. We are fortunate to have excellent services who support us including radiology, cardiophysiology and pharamcy. Equally important is that the staff are professional and ensure that all information is fully explained. It is great to hear this was your experience and I know Marion and Dr Rennie will be delighted to read this.

Best Wishes,

Christine
