"Experience with a staff member"

About: Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow / Elderly Medicine (Wards 51, 52, 54,55, 57, 8a & 2a)

(as a relative),

My father was on the ward for over 3 weeks . It’s a very busy ward and  he was in a bay with 5 other men who did need a lot of support  . The staff had a lot to deal with . We offer had to wait to get into the ward  as it was locked . It didn’t bother us to wait .We understood  . Sadly we had a bad experience with one staff member. This person was working with my father almost every day and didn’t have a great manners. We would often call to ask how my dad was and ask to speak to the nurse to find out how he had been. This staff member would tell me how he was in a manner I found to be cheeky and also inform us that "we were just in to visit".  I now believe that it may not have been a nurse who was talking to me about my dad's medications and other worries I had, but another staff member. I now believe this person should not have been informing me and talking to me about certain information, which has caused myself and my sister a little upset.

Thank you for taking time to post your experience on care opinion. I am disappointed to read about the behaviour from a member of staff towards you and your father. This type of behaviour is certainly not acceptable and I would like to apologise to you and your family for the upset this has caused.

If you could email me on Lesley.allan7@ggc.scot.nhs.uk so that I can get a little more information which I will pass over to the Lead Nurse in the Elderly Medicine department of the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital who will be able to investigate this further.

Kind Regards

Lesley
