"More information could be given out"

About: Queen Margaret Hospital / Endoscopy Victoria Hospital / SEAL (Surgical Elective Admission Lounge)

(as the patient),

Very well looked after with a lovely team of nurses and a very nice doctor. But think more information could be given out in connection with the effects of the bowel "clearance" medicine. I realise everyone is different but feel patients should be pre-warned regarding how long it takes with me it well into the night, and also to suggest inconstancy knickers as you don't really get much warning when the bowel empties. One of the nurses said that often patients beds and carpets had been ruined. I suggest this aspect was brought up at a team talk so perhaps you could suggest this to the team at Victoria Hospital where my inital assessment took place.

Dear Fifer 5

Thank you for posting on Care Opinion.

It was nice to read that our staff looked after you well throughout your stay with us.

I am grateful for your comments about the bowel preparation and you have made a few good points. I will share your post with all our endoscopy, bowel screening and booking staff to allow us to consider how we improve the information we give to our patients.

Thanks again for giving us your feedback and I hope you have recovered well from your procedure.

Kind regards

Gill
