"I had to leave"

About: Elsdale Street Surgery

(as the patient),

I was called by the receptionist to tell me my doctor wants to see me. I had an appointment in the morning. My doctor knows I have anxiety, but I was still waiting half an hour later in a room full of people. I had to leave because I could feel my anxiety building.

Dear MDS-19,

Our sincere apologies you left the surgery without being seen by the GP. We do try our best not to keep our patients waiting for any extended period however, due to the varying nature of GP's consultations there are times when a patient may need a little more time particularly in the case of medical emergencies.

We understand this can cause a delay for other patients, which is why we display the waiting times for all of our clinicians which is located at the reception front desk.

I have a discussion with our reception supervisor about your experience to ensure all patients are told about any delays upon arrival.

We would be happy to add an alert to your records requesting you are allowed to wait for your appointment in a room or quiet area, whenever possible. Please feel free to contact me if you would like me to action this.

Kind Regards,

Paulette Williams
