"Problems making appointments for ECG"

About: Hillingdon Hospital

My son has a GP request for ECG form, dated 26th Sept.

He has rung the appointments line several times, it always went to voicemail and he didn’t get a call back.

He has various problems with managing his life and gave up.

I tried today, again no call back,

how long should you expect to wait I wonder ?

Is the number correct ?

If the phone number doesn’t work, how are you supposed to make a appointment ?

I rang the main switchboard who eventually managed to put me through. I was able to make the appointment.

The person I spoke to seemed nice but very harassed.

There was some problem locating my son's record on the computer, then with entering the appointment.

I asked what the problem was with the voicemails.

She seemed to be telling me there wasn't enough time to deal with them.

Also she had rung my son back, she remembered the name.

Maybe he also has a problem picking up voicemails.

Anyhow I've done that sort of admin job, I know how miserable it is when don't have time to deal with phone calls and voicemails.

It's very stressful for staff.

What is the point having all that expensive infrastructure, equipment and highly trained staff if people can't make appointments ?

I'd also like to point out, we've always been very happy with the service at Mount Vernon, we've never had any problem getting tests done in the past.

Regards
