"A very lucky and grateful patient"

About: Stoke Mandeville Hospital / Accident and emergency Stoke Mandeville Hospital / General surgery

(as the patient),

I attended the Accident & Emergency Department at Stoke Mandeville Hospital after sustaining a cat bite. I was subsequently referred to the Surgical Assessment Unit and was seen there on two consecutive days.

The care and attention I received from the Surgical Assessment team was truly humbling. Despite the challenging state the NHS is in, I can only say that I received the best care from a team of focussed, dedicated and stoical professionals. Dr Song’s expert and timely assessment of my situation, followed by a series of swift actions had, in my option, averted what could have been a very unpleasant and costly outcome. The nurses (Reena, Dell – sorry I forget the other names) were commendable; they were gentle, calm, knowledgeable and respectful. And last but not least, Dr Ryan who saw me at the beginning and then again near the end of her shift (some 12+ hours later) still greeted me with the same smile and upbeat personality. She told me she loved her job!

I am grateful to you all and THANK YOU, Ward 15.
