Having seen so many health care professionals over last three years with weird and troublesome symptoms, I despaired of ever finding anyone willing or able to join the dots and help me. Today, visiting with my daughter, was the first time I have left a hospital feeling happy and hopeful with a plan of care to help me. I wish I was allowed to name the very kind and patient specialist nurse by name as she didn't look at me like a hypochondriac when I listed all my weird symptoms. She explained that autoimmune problems often present this way and gave me hope that I might actually find an escape from ill health at last. The professor leading the clinic, who I didn't see on this occasion, is likewise the nicest Doctor I have come across and this team really care about helping patients. Well worth the long hike up to Newcastle first thing this morning, they probably don't know what a difference they make to people's lives just by caring.
